Have a Better Beach Trip: Here’s How
Title: 7 Tips for Maximizing Your Beach Trip Experience
Growing up in the southern, coastal city of Wilmington, NC, I have always been drawn to the beach and the salt water. As the weather warms up and the sun beckons, I find myself yearning for a day at the beach immersed in salt water or listening to the waves from the sand. Whether you're planning a solo adventure, a romantic getaway, or a fun family outing, there are plenty of ways to ensure your beach trip is nothing short of spectacular. Here are seven tips to help you make the most of your seaside escapade:
1. Plan Ahead: Before hitting the sand, take some time to plan your day. Parking, weather forecast and surf conditions are all key ingredients to the perfect day.Make sure to check both weather and surf forecast, pack appropriate clothing, sunscreen, snacks, and water. Also, consider the amenities available at the beach, such as restrooms, showers, and picnic areas.
2. Timing is Key: Arriving early or later in the day can help you avoid crowds and snag a prime spot on the beach. Early mornings are perfect for tranquil walks along the shore or watching the sunrise, while late afternoons offer stunning sunset views and cooler temperatures. One of my favorite beaches, Wrightsville Beach, NC is known for its amazing water and family friendly style but parking is rough if you don't get there early.
3. Choose the Right Beach: Not all beaches are created equal. Some are known for their calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling, while others are popular for surfing or beach volleyball. Research different beaches in your area to find one that suits your preferences and activities. Siesta Key, home to our friends Craig and Erica, is the perfect white sand beach for families. Crystal clear water and mild waves make it perfect for smaller children.
4. Pack Wisely: Nothing brings a beach day down more than forgetting the essentials. Make sure your Jenny Denny bag has plenty of towels, snacks, and beach friendly games like frisbee or sand toys.
5. Stay Hydrated: Spending hours under the sun can quickly lead to dehydration. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. You can take your JD clear wristlet to the closest beach bar but go easy on the alcohol consumption. It can lead to more dehydration.
6. Respect the Sun: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by wearing sunscreen with a high SPF, and remember to reapply every two hours or after swimming. My all time favorite is @supergoop. It goes on seamlessly and is made with quality ingredients. Being blonde and blue eyed-not only do I need plenty of sun screen, I also need shade. In North Carolina, you can't go to a beach without seeing a @shabumishade. This is the best sun shade out there. Easy to put up and lightweight to carry.
7. Respect the Ocean: Always prioritize safety when at the beach. Pay attention to warning signs, swim in designated areas supervised by lifeguards if possible, and be aware of rip currents and other potential hazards. If you're not a strong swimmer, consider wearing a life jacket or staying in shallow waters. If you do get caught in the rip current, don't panic. Swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current then make your way back to the beach.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your beach trip is not only enjoyable but also safe and memorable. So grab your sunscreen, pack your Jenny Denny and get ready for a day of fun in the sun!
